Overview

Bag filter housings provide high-flow-rate particulate removal with a large filtration area per unit and very low cost per filtered volume. They are preferred over cartridge filters when particle loads are high, when lower pressure drop is critical, or when large contaminant masses must be retained. Standard industrial filter bags are widely available globally, eliminating supply chain risk.

Engineering Features

🏎

High Flow Rate

Single #2 bag handles up to 20 m³/h. Multi-bag housings (2–12 bags) scale proportionally for large systems up to 200 m³/h from a compact footprint.

💰

Low Operating Cost

Standard #1 and #2 filter bags cost a fraction of equivalent cartridges. Ideal for high-particulate applications where frequent change-out would make cartridge operation expensive.

🔩

Multiple Closure Types

V-band quick-release clamp for frequent change-out. Eye-bolt swing-bolt for rugged industrial service. Davit-arm lid for easy large-bag handling.

🧪

Wide Chemical Compatibility

Housings in 304 or 316L SS with Teflon-coated internals on request. Gaskets in EPDM, NBR, Viton, or PTFE for chemical, solvent, and acidic service.

📐

Basket Design

Full-area wire-mesh basket supports the bag and prevents bypass. Removable for cleaning and inspection.

📋

Pressure Gauge Taps

Standard inlet and outlet gauge connections for differential pressure monitoring — the correct indicator for bag change-out timing.

Typical Applications

  • 🎨 Paint & Coatings — Removes agglomerates and pigment lumps before drum filling and spray application.
  • 🍺 Food & Beverage Pre-filtration — Removes coarse particulates from raw ingredients and process water.
  • 🏭 Chemical Processing — Filters polymer slurries, catalyst fines, and process chemicals.
  • 💧 Industrial Water Treatment — Coarse pre-filtration (100–200 μm) ahead of multimedia or cartridge filtration.
  • 🛢 Oil & Gas Production Water — Removes sand and solids from produced water before reinjection or treatment.
  • 🖨 Ink & Adhesives — Removes gels and skin contamination from ink and adhesive batches.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between bag filter and cartridge filter?

Bag filters handle higher flow rates, have lower differential pressure, and cost less per change-out. Cartridge filters achieve finer filtration (down to 0.1 μm) and tighter particle rating consistency. Use bag filters for coarse pre-filtration; cartridge filters for fine polishing.

What bag material should I choose?

PE (polyester) is the most common — chemical resistant and economical. PP (polypropylene) for broader chemical resistance. Nylon for food/pharma where extractables must be minimized. We help specify based on your fluid.

How often do bags need replacing?

Change when differential pressure reaches 0.08–0.1 MPa, or on a scheduled interval. Some bags can be cleaned and reused — ask us about washable bag options.

Can I convert an existing housing to a different bag size?

We supply replacement baskets and lids sized for #1 or #2 bags. Full conversion kits available for most major housing brands.

What is the lead time?

Standard single-bag and twin-bag housings: 10–20 days. Multi-bag custom: 20–35 days.
